Vanishing (Broken Frame, "End of the World" series)

I was making these paintings in 2004, and moving from Soho in NYC to the upper West-Side. In them i was reflexing a sence of loss, becoming invisable, vanishing. I choose images that supported those emotions. Whaling ship (home) Flower(nature) crucifex(religion) Etc. I created line drawings of them using a singular image on each painting. I would then paint loose, free, playful marks to create tention and perspective with the formal drawings. This would solve my problem wanting both order and choas in one painting. Once again trying to create balance. Like my-self i found discarded unwanted wood on the streets of NYC, crafting them into frames that are unfinished, broken, and incomplete. These paintings were an investigation of my dreams at the time, not being fully reliazed.

Materials:
Glitter, Resin, paint - Oil and arycylic, colored pencils and crayons. Fish-tank gravel, wood-crafted frames.

Size:
Range from 3' x '4 up to 5' x 7' on canvas.
